What's your Damage?

Superballs

So, like Don I have a collection of war wounds accumulated over my 2 decades of skating.

-Broken right hand, 2 pins still in
-torn lateral meniscus in my left knee, repaired
-slight bulge between L3 & L4 on my spine, therapy here and there still

As well as various other more minor hippers, cuts, bruises, road rash and massive head impacts.

How about you folks, got some wounds or stories to tell? Remember, no guts no glory, but always wear your safety equipment, especially your helmet!!!

Um... no major damage yet

rollerbob

Um... no major damage yet (knocks on wood) but plenty of hippers, bruises and abrasions. Skated the late 70s to early 90s with no pads or helmet. I never received any serious injuries... worst was bruised patella - that took about a year to fully heal. Got back to skating after 10 years off... numerous cuts and slams getting back. Ollied off curb at speed and ate it on someone's fast food trash that I didn't see when I exited the curb... peeled the skin off the palms of my hands (had pads everywhere but wrists that day... D'oh!). Fell once learning to drop in (age 34) and landed on my spine across the cement ledge, but no damage to my back.

Sprained both wrists about 6 months ago because of debris in the park that was the same color as the 'crete. No head injuries yet... have been fortunate to be wearing a helmet for each head-shot I've taken in the past 2 years. Now I walk the park before I skate it, just to make sure there are no rocks, broken 'crete bits, or landscaping mulch or various, hard-shelled candies in the park (stupid groms).

Sooo...

One can safely say that if you skate, better get insurance?
Of course, putting yourself in danger's way is part of the adrenaline rush, eh.
No real damage thus far, but I haven't tried anything too crazy yet, either..haha.

Heh, in reality, all of

Superballs

Heh, in reality, all of those injuries with the exception of minor cuts, bruises, hippers and road rash have come from life off my board. Go figure. But I'll tell you what, they don't make life on my board an easier.

I've been lucky to say the least. ;)

My worst damage was when my 6-year-old daughter and her friends decided to play bouncy bounce on my favorite board. I guess it was fun for a minute or two, then they snapped the deck right in half. F@*#!!!

ego has taken a beating

not2old2sk8

I'm just learning to skate at 46 years old. Been at it almost a year now. Luckily no major injuries, but plenty of minor ones. My latest slam is documented on

BTW this movie looks to be hilarious - can't wait.

Yeah I caused some

max

Yeah I caused some damage. I broke a park bench, some parking blocks, a neighbors light post, wore down a few curbs, and broke a few hearts.

Dead knee!

ChrisK

My knee is currently dead. I'm still going skating this Friday though!

Caught a nice fall at 30mph+

Superballs

Caught a nice fall at 30mph+ last weekend. Luckily I was wearing gear, but I still managed to badly sprain my left wrist. Can't even describe how lucky I feel that I was wearing slide gloves, knee pads, and a helmet. It could have been much worse. Remember to always wear your gear!
